Endoscopy
Endoscopic diagnostics is a highly accurate, modern visual method for examining internal organs "from the inside" using an optical flexible instrument (endoscope) introduced through natural body orifices. Endoscopy allows for a detailed examination of the mucous membrane, detecting inflammation, tumors, and other pathologies. Endoscopic diagnostics plays a crucial role in detecting neoplastic diseases at early stages (screening endoscopy). Endoscopy is an essential tool for the timely detection of dangerous pathological changes and helps in prescribing effective treatment. At Mechnikov Hospital, all conditions have been created to ensure that endoscopic procedures are not only informative but also as comfortable as possible for the patient.

Both elective and urgent endoscopic examinations are performed at our hospital.
We perform both purely diagnostic procedures: visual assessment of the mucous membrane, chromoscopy, biopsy, as well as independent methods of endoscopic treatment: endoscopic polypectomy, hemostasis, foreign body removal, stenting, etc.
Examination of the Gastrointestinal Tract
Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) - a method for examining the upper GI tract: the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. Indications: upper abdominal pain, heartburn, loss of appetite; early satiety; weight loss; anemia; suspected internal bleeding.
Colonoscopy - a method for examining the lower GI tract: the large intestine and the terminal ileum. Indications: rectal bleeding, bowel movement disorders (diarrhea or constipation),abdominal pain, bloating, preparation for gynecological surgery, decreased hemoglobin levels, abnormalities found during X-ray, CT, or ultrasound examinations.
Examination of the Respiratory System
Bronchoscopy - an endoscopic examination that allows visual inspection of the mucous membranes of the larynx, trachea, and bronchi. Indications: persistent cough, hemoptysis, unexplained dyspnea, chronic pneumonia, suspected neoplasm or foreign body, radiographic abnormalities.
Foreign body removal. A procedure that allows for the non-surgical extraction of foreign objects from the digestive or respiratory tracts.
Removal of benign tumors. Excision of benign neoplasms during an endoscopic examination without open surgery, followed by histological examination.
Therapeutic bronchoscopy (bronchial toilet) — a therapeutic procedure performed during bronchoscopy to clear the trachea and bronchi of accumulated contents (sputum, pus) using irrigation and aspiration. It is used for chronic diseases of the lungs and bronchi, helping to improve breathing and prevent complications.
Stenting - allows for the restoration of luminal patency in cases of strictures or tumors.

Examinations allow the organ to be visualized "from the inside" and pathology to be detected at early stages.

Polyps or foreign bodies can be removed immediately, without the need for additional surgery.

Upon request, the procedure can be performed under anesthesia (sedation),which eliminates discomfort and stress.

Video systems with magnification and chromoendoscopy functions provide the clearest possible image.

Highly qualified specialists ensure the safe conduct of procedures and the correct interpretation of results.
Modern Technologies
The endoscopy service is equipped with advanced video endoscopic systems featuring image magnification and high-definition detailing, which helps to visualize even the slightest changes that remain unnoticed during a standard examination. It also has the necessary auxiliary instruments for performing endoscopic manipulations and minimally invasive surgeries.
There is an option to perform various types of biopsies for further pathohistological and cytological examination, allowing for the detection of pathology at early stages and the initiation of treatment without delay.
Human Resources
The department employs doctors of the highest qualification category who specialize specifically in endoscopic techniques. They regularly improve their qualifications at international conferences and symposia, implementing new technologies into practice. As a result, patients receive diagnostics at the level of leading European clinics.
